South-West Retains Cadet Cricket Championship In Nigeria

The Nigeria Cricket Federation  Under Fifteen  Boys championship ended in Abuja penultimate weekend with South-West Nigeria retaining the trophy from last year.
This year which is the 2nd edition saw 5 teams do battle from 5 out of 6 geo-political zones of the country namely:South-South,South-East,South-West,North-Central and North East

The third place match was between South-South and South East after they both qualified as best losers from their various groups.

South-East won the toss and elected to bat Scoring a total of 30 runs in 5 overs for the loss of 3 wickets,

In the seconds innings, South-South chased the runs and scored a total of 31 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 2.4 overs.
South-South won the match by 8 wickets to be crowned 3rd place winners.

In the final match ,South-West won the toss and elected to field prompting North-West to bat first. It soon proved to be the best decision after the North-West Batsmen crumbled like a pack of cards under some very good deliveries from the South-West Bowlers. At the end of the first innings, North-West could only manage a total of 34 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 10 overs

In the second innings, South-West gradually and efficiently glided to victory scoring 3 runs per over for the first 5 overs. However they ensured victory at the 8th over scoring a total of 36 runs for the loss of 1 wicket crowing them champions of the second edition for the second consecutive time.

Highlight of the Occasion was the presentation of awards and cash prices to deserving teams and individuals and also the presentation of a complete cricket Kit bag to the Kaduna State Cricket Association in commensuration of the fire outbreak that consumed the association’s Equipment storage facility.
