Nigeria Mises Olympic Ticket In Beach Volleyball



The youthful pair of Tochukwu Nnorua and Francisca Ikedia that restored parity to Nigeria Against Egypt in the turbulent semi final clash.
It was the greatest shock at the Continental tournament in Jabi Lake Resort,Abuja Nigeria as Team Nigeria crashed out of the hunt for the sole ticket in Women's Beach Volleyball to the Rio 2016  Games.
After a stunning performance in the group games  Team Nigeria failed to maintain her good run that saw her top group B.She lost to surprise finalist Egypt who struggled to make it in the semis.Egypt in the first semi final game beat Nigeria 2-1 ,it was the pairing of team captain Prescilia Agera and Isabella that were humbled by the Egyptians.Egypt won by 21-19,21-19.

It took the pair of Tochukwu Nnorua and Francisca Ikedia to put Nigeria back to contention with a 2-0 triumph in the second game of the day ,with scores at 21-15,21-15.

This meant the GOLDEN RULE had to apply and coach Ismail Chakuma of Nigeria decided to swap the pairing ,putting together Prescilia Agera and Tochukwu Nnorua to face their Egyptian opposition in the GOLDEN match and Nigeria eventually lost 10-15 to Egypt.

 Nigeria will now play a classification 3rd place(Looser final) tie against Mauritius Sunday as the qualifier winds up.Egypt will face Rwanda in the final.Rwanda defeated Mauritius in both games 2-0 with scores at 21-16,21-18/21-15,21-09.

Morocco won their tie against Sierra Leone 2-0,(21-11,21-16) for 3rd pool A clash.

Namibia defeated The Gambia in all two matches,2nil recording a scoreline of 21-16,21-18/21-17,22-20 to win the 4th placed match.

Team Mozambique won the 5th Pool A match against Ghana 2-0 painting the scoreline at 23-21,21-10/2105,21-19
