Oghuma Raises Concern Over Nigeria's Failure To Clinch Olympic Beach Volleyball Ticket On Home Soil

Oghuma.
The Technical Director of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation,Tony Oghuma is very disturbed by the inability of the Women's national Beach Volleyball team to pick the sole ticket for the Rio 2016 Olympic Game on home soil .
Team Nigeria were eliminated by their counterparts from Egypt,1-2 in the semi final in a pulsating game.Egypt won the first game after defaeting Nigeria pair of Priscilia Agera and Isabela Laju with scores at 19-21,21-19 .The pair of Francisca Ikhiede and Tochukwu Nnoruga brought Nigeria back with a 2-1 win ,hitting Egypt 21-15,21-15.And in the applicable Golden match,Nigeria's  head coach Ismail Chakuma swapped the pairings and had captain Agera and Tochukwu playing and Nigeria ended up loosing 10-15 to eventual champions Egypt.

"Our players did not play to loose, some of us including the chairman of the Beach Volleyball Commission, Mr.Musa Nimrod foresaw this that we might be forced to play the Golden match and so we decided that our young and more energetic pair of Tochukwu Nnoruga and Francisca Ikhiede would be our battlers but coach Chakumah swapped the pairings,he disrupted our earlier agreement"

Tochukwu and Francisca.

"You do not attempt such a gamble in such situation knowing that the Egyptians have an enduring strength ,you do not dismantle an understanding the pair have created over time ,there is a lot that comes with it,Oghumed fumed .

Nigeria defeated Mauritius in the third place match ,with Egypt ending the competition as Champions and Rwanda as runners up.
