Nigerian Weightlifters Begin Chase For Rio 2016 Olympic Tickets


Two Nigerian top lifters Mariam Usman and Toyin Adesanmi will join their counterparts from 56 other countries as the   Weightlifting qualification event of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games got underway today in Houston Texas,United States of America.
  Maryam Usman will be contesting in the +75 category and Toyin Adesanmi in the +63 class,both athletes departed the country Tuesday.

The 2015 International Weightlifting (IWF) Senior  Championship started Friday.

Secretary of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation,Bola Adedeji who Friday night left Nigeria to join  the lifters in America  told amarignis.blogspot.com that the lifters are primed to pick the Olympic ticket.
Hear him"We have a very bright chance of picking the ticket,judging by the lifters level of preparation and recent performance at the All Africa Games in Congo,i am confident they will do well"

You will recall that Mariam Usman won three Silver in Brazzaville,and Toyin Adesanmi got two gold ,and a Silver also at the AAG .
The Nigerian Weightlifting contingent is led by the Federation’s Vice –President, Mohammed Yahaya and the Director of Elites athletes in the National Sports Commission NSC ,Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi.
Mariam Usman and Toyin Adesanmi will begin the events from from Wednesday the 25th of
