Football Referees in the Nigeria Premier and National league cadre, have commenced preparations ahead of the new Football season.

Few weeks after undergoing the physical fitness test at the National Stadium, Abuja, another stage of the build up to the 2016 league season which is the PRE-SEASON SEMINAR has commenced at the Gateway Stadium,Sagamu, Ogun State.
The two-day training seminar, the first of its kind in the annals of referees history, which started on Monday, is being organised by the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF Referees Committee, in partnership with the Nigerian Football Federation Association, NRA.
Speaking on the development, the NRA President, Tade Azeez who addressed the Referees during the official opening of the seminar said that no stone will be left unturned in the renewed quest of the NRA leadership in polishing Nigerian Referees for the challenges ahead.
Tade, also a member of the Referees Committee of NFF, said that apart from better welfare packages and capacity building workshops, essential trainings have been line up to fine tune the performance levels of members this new season..
According to the NRA President, the issue of referees training is paramount in the operations of the referees' body and NFF Referees Committee. "We are not resting on our oars on the issue of referees training and welfare. Trained instructors and personnel have been gathered to impact positively on the active referees and we urge all Referees to make good use of the seminar" Tade said.
The President further opined that the impressive performances of referees in Nigeria in the domestic scene last season will be improved upon as the two-day seminar will not only add value to the tactical depth of the arbirters but also prepare them for better results.
He reiterated earlier
warnings that the game has changed and mediocrity will not be tolerated
as a standard for excellence has been set. Said he " bad eggs shall be
removed from the system if found wanting "
