The 2015/16 Nigeria National League season will no longer commence on Saturday 7th May, 2016 as earlier fixed at the March 6th Congress in Abuja, the League kick off date has now been moved forward by 21 days.
Executive Secretary of the second tier League, Lawrence Katken, said this is following the inability of some clubs to complete their registration formalities at the appointed time.

However, he said a new date of 28th May, 2016 has been now slated for the commencement of the 2015/2016 Nigeria National League season.
Clubs are by this grace requested to ensure that all registration formalities and settlement of all indebtedness are completed before the new kick off date.
The Adhoc Committee of the Nigeria National League, under the chairmanship of Barrister,Seyi Akinwunmi ,who doubles as the 1st Vice-President of the Nigeria Football Federation, is optimistic that this postponement will in no way affect the competitiveness nor the proper scheduling of the league.
“We are determined to commence well to enable us avoid hitches we can handle now, this League is important to us and we must start the new season right, we enjoin all to understand with us” Akinwunmi noted.
