World Cricket League: Nigeria Misses Qualification To Division Four

The Nigeria senior men's Cricket team, the Yellow Greens, have missed the chance to  gain promotion to the World Division 4,this is following a string of losses at the ongoing World Cricket League Division 5 in Jersey Island.

Since beating Tanzania in their opening match ,it  has been an unpleasant  YELLOW GREENS. Extreme weather conditions may have been the reason they were humbled by Oman but the losses to Guernsey and Vanuatu was a clear difference in class and a reflection of how much the game of Cricket has evolved.

The Game against Guernsey, Nigeria won the toss and elected to Bat first scoring a total runs of 99 all out in 36 overs.  In the second innings, Guernsey chased down the score and scored 100 runs for the loss of no wicket thereby winning the match by 10 wickets.

The Game against Vanuatu was a similar story. Due to weather conditions, Nigeria the toss and elected to field first gifting the Batting site the opportunity to score a total of 227 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs.

The Yellow Greens put up an early fight but again the wonders of Spin bowling on the turf wicket surface was enough to end the chase at 117 all out in 38 overs.
Both games were decided by the turf wicket surface as the Nigeria bowlers who excelled in this competition were the spin bowlers with their personal best and arguably one of the tournament’s best bowling average.

The Need for turf wicket surface has become more important if Nigeria must return to Glory at the international level.

YELLOW GREENS will conclude the competition with a game against host Jersey Island before the official Tournament will be released.
