Fifty four year old caretaker Super Eagles handler, Salisu Yusuf,wants to coach the team on a permanent basis and has applied for the vacant plum position .
The former Enyimba and Kano Pillars coach submitted his application letter Friday to enable him beat the Wednesday deadline set by the Development and Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Yusuf insists he has all it takes to be in charge of the team."There is no big deal,i have the needed experience after from the club level and after serving as assistant to three former head coaches of the Eagles,i consider myself qualified and having the capacity to manage the team"
"I know what is at stake in our seeming tough group for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers,i am at home with players and i know them very well,all we need to do is to build on what we already have and with the necessary support ,i am optimistic we will qualify from our group"
The NFF say,the short-list of
candidates for the vacant position of Super Eagles head coach will be made
public this Friday, the 8th of this month.
Nigeria will begin
preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying race against Algeria,
Cameroon and Zambia.
Salisu Yusuf, guided Nigeria
to two wins in
international friendly games against, Mali and Luxemburg earlier
in the year.
Yusuf has served under late coach Stephen Keshi, Sunday Oliseh and Samson Siasia.
