FINALLY:Omagbemi Joins Super Falcons



Omagbemi,just arrived Falcons camp
Fourty  one year old former Super Falcons captain Florence Omagbemi who was appointed to handle Nigeria's senior Women's national team ,the  Super Falcons on interim capacity,arrived the Wuye camp of the team Sunday evening to a warm reception by her technical crew and players.


Omagbemi's arrival puts paid to lingering rumours that she was not satisfied with condition of appointment by the Nigeria Football Federation and had rejected the job.

The American based coach drove straight to the teams camp on touching the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport and was received in a very warm embrace by her former teammate and immediate assistant,Anne Agumanu Chiejine on arrival and was later introduced to the players and officials who were having their dinner at the time .

Omagbemi quickly swung into action after been introduced to the players locked up  with both official and players in a meeting that lasted one hour.

She is expected to lead the team out Monday morning at the national Stadium,Abuja for her first training in charge.

 
The choice of Omagbemi  was approved by the executive board of the Nigeria Football Federation on 16th Tuesday,2016  following the recommendation of its Technical and Development Committee.
 Nigeria have been without a substantive coach since the team failed to qualify for the Rio Olympics last year.


Florence Omagbemi, has featured in four different FIFA Women’s World Cup from China 1991 to USA 2003 for Nigeria.
 
She was a member of the golden generation of the Super Falcons that reached the second round at USA 1999, where Nigeria narrowly lost the semifinal ticket to Brazil.
She led the Falcons to win the African Women's Championship title in 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2004 and also led the team to appear for the first time at Sydney 2000 Olympics Game.

The former captain and defender of the Super Falcons  has coached American youth teams and previously served as the assistant coach to the Nigerian U-20 Women's  team, at Japan 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
