No Show For Nigerian Wrestlers At The Olympics

Nigeria’s poor performance in wrestling at the Rio  Olympics continued in the men’s event Sunday with team captain Amas Daniel going down  to Georgia’s Zurabi Iakobishvili.

Fighting in the first round of the 65kg freestyle, 26 year old Daniel lost 3-1 to his Georgian opponent to crash out.

u completed the medalless wrestling outing for Nigeria after also losing to Uzbekistan’s Magomed Abdulmuninovich Ibragimov   (4-0) in the men’s 97kg category round of sixteen.

Nigeria’s five women wrestlers had earlier  crashed out in the first round of their various weight categories.

With the conclusion of the wrestling event for Nigeria, the country’s only medal in Rio is the bronze won by the men’s Football team,after their 3-2 effort over South American counterparts,Honduras.
