Assistant captain of team Nigeria Funke Oshonaike has advanced to the next round of the Women’s singles event in Table Tennis after defeating his opponent from Lebanon,Mariana Sahakian 4-3,today.she wil next play Puerto Rican,Adrian Diaz .

She  edged her Lebanese opponents four sets to three to progressed to the next round.
She lost the first set 8-11 but bounced back to take the next three sets 11-9, 11-7 and 11-8.
Sahakian rallied back to win the next two sets 8-11 and 9-11 before finally winning the last set 11-8.

Her Compatriot Edem Offiong also progressed after posting 4-0  impressive win over Yee Sally of Fiji Island.Edem will meet Viktoria Pavlovich of Belarus next.

Meanwhile, both Funke is   currently facing Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico in the round one of the competition,while Edem is battling Belarussian Viktoria Pavlovic .
