It is not yet clear as at the time of this publication why the East African sisters failed to show up for the contest but feelers from camp say it maybe financial reasons.
Yesterday the Nigerian girls romped into a second straight victory ,beating hosts Madagascar 60-53 points.She won the 1st quarter 13-8,drew the second 15-15,lost the 3rd 12-20,and went on to win the last 20-10.
Nigeria's fine run in the tournament so far started Sunday with a 54-52 triumph over Egypt.
However,coach of the Nigeria side Adeka Daudu, say he is not in the competition to win but will be delighted if they emerge champions in the end.
According to him:"We are not in it win the tournament,that is not the ultimate,our aim is to see how the girls can grow from this stage"
The tournament started Saturday and will end on Sunday , it is will serving as qualifier for the 2016 FIBA Women's World Championship.
Mali,Mozambique,Angola,Rwanda,and Tunisia are in group B.
The top four teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals where Group A crosses Group B (A1-B4; A2-B3; A3-B2; A4-B1)
The second phase of the tournament will be played in a knockout format from the Quarter-finals to the Finals.
The winner and the runners-up will represent Africa to next year youth competition.
Mali is the tree time champion of the FIBA Africa U16 Championship for Women which is at its 4th edition.
