With Nigeria’s group D opponents United State of America eventually carting the coveted Trophy at the just concluded 7th FIFA Women’s World Cup in
Canada at the expense of defending champions Japan who they beat in the final,general
secretary of Nigeria Football Federation ,Dr.Sanusi Mohammed told www.amarignis.blogspot.com that the “SuperFalcons”
were unlucky not to advance from their group.
“We were just not fortunate against the Americans in that
match because it was our best game at the championship, I thought we played
better against Sweden in that paulsating opener after coming back to level 3-3,no!
but playing against the Americans our girls were highly tactical and deserved
abetter result”
“We had beaten the defending champions Japan who lost 2-3 to
USA in a friendly, our girls would not go down with such a margin,Sanusi
boasted.
Sweden ,Australia,USA,and Nigeria were all in a grouped
described as the group of death,Australia and USA eventually qualified from the
group.
The Falcons of Nigeria played 3-3 against Sweden in their opener,
lost 0-2 to Australia ,and 0-1 to the US
Dr Sanusi a teacher turned sports administrator wants Nigeria
to still believe in the Falcons despite not making it out of the group stage “We
have to still count on those girls ,we parade quality players comparatively speaking that can beat the world
at any time,it is only a matter of time and Nigerian girls will rule the world
at the senior stage”
Nigeria was making its 7th appearance at the
World quadrennial event which started in 1991

States thrashed Japan to win their third Women's World Cup title.
The game was seen by 26.7 million viewers. Fox said Monday
its English-language coverage was seen by an average of 25.4 million and NBC's
Telemundo said its telecast averaged 1.27 million.
Viewership topped the previous mark of 26.5 million set when
Germany beat Argentina in last year's men's World Cup final. That was seen by
17.3 million on ABC and 9.2 million on Spanish-language Univision.
