Danjuma downplays Oshoala,Onome's Absence In Saturday's Olympics Battle Against Equatorial Guinea

Interim handler of the  senior Women's soccer team of Nigeria,Christopher Danjuma says his wards are battle ready for the Olympic Games 1st leg qualifier against their counterparts from Equatorial Guinea despite the absence of  reigning African Woman Footballer of the year,Asisat Oshoala and defense trojan Onome Ebi.


The match will be played at the National Stadium ,Abuja Saturday from 4pm.The match will be Danjuma's litmus test since taking over from former handler,Edwin Okon.

Coach Danjuma said "We know we have a tough game in our hands knowing the antecedents of the Guineans,we are set for this challenge,we want to make it to the Olympics and we want to start by ensuring we win well at home."

"We have played a couple of friendlies matches to toughen the girls and i am sure they are in good shape and ready to go"

On the absence of  Asisat Oshoala and Onome Ebi ,coach Danjuma has this to say,"We will miss both players ,but i can assure have a large pull of quality and talents to draw from and any player picked will deliver"

The delegation of national team of  Equatorial Guinea’s senior women national team to this weekend’s important qualifying matches against Nigerian will arrive in the country on Friday according to the Nigeria Football Federation the delegation would travel to aboard a chartered flight.

Moreso, the delegation from Equatorial Guinea  will be led by that country’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Andres Jorge Mbomio Nsem Abua, with a delegation of 45 persons, to be accompanied by 100 supporters. The team’s aircraft will land by 2pm on Friday.
Equatorial Guinea has won two African Women Championship titles, to Nigeria's seven, in the nine championships held so far.
