The Nigeria
Basketball Federation (NBBF) has fixed a wooden floor at the Indoor Sports Hall of the
National Stadium ,Abuja ahead of the last leg of the DSTV Elite Men’s Basketball
League.
A member of
the Technical committee of the Federation and Proprietor of Gilal Basketball
Club of Abuja,Skambo Morrison told amarignis.blogspot.com Nigeria that the original rubber Floor of the Sports Hall has an
undulating surface which does not encourage smooth flow and movement of the
Players.
Hear him "The Floor here is not good,there is nothing we can achieve playing on this bad surface,yes we have used the till date it is because we needed to manage while we thought of a better floor .The Floor is not different from the tarred roads on the streets"
Skambo who had short stint at the senior national team of Nigeria during his playing days spoke on the essence of playing on the Wooden floor,saying it will no doubt enhance quality performance on the side of the players.
"We have to start getting used to playing on the Wooden Floor,it is just a matter of time,this is the practice now elsewhere "
Skambo went on to thank the Federation for its effort in ensuring the Wooden floor is put to use noting it is for the good of Basketball."This is a very goog initiative even though it is coming late,Nigeria is overdue for a Wooden Floor but i must say it is not wrong to do the right thing late ,the important thing is that we now have it for our games"
