Nigerian athletes
continue to perform well in their various sport events. On Monday, 7th September 2015, the
results in various sports are as follows
Boxing:
A.
i)
Ekele
Danwoko of Nigeria in the Light Heavyweight division (81 kg) defeated Tobias
Okey Ayoi of Kenya 3 – 0;
ii)
Ajagba
Efe in the Super Heavyweight (+91 kg) knocked out in round one Daniel Shisia of
Kenya;
iii)
Taiwo
Abiodun was victorious over Kabwe Emmanuel of Zambia in the Flyweight (52 kg)
division 3 – 0; while
iv)
Kazeem
Soyoye of Nigeria lost to Sarouna Fafiou Bless from Togo in the 3rd
round of the 60kg Lightweight division.
B.
The Nigeria Volleyball (men)
pulled a victory over Mozambique
3 – 0. The team will now play
Egyptian team on Wednesday 9th.
C.
The Nigeria Gymnastics
Individual Finals (Men) Vault of Fakiyesi Oke Tayo and Awokunle Seun Ojo
came 4th and 6th respectively and have reached the
Ranking Position in their events.
Also, the Nigeria Gymnastics Individual Finals (Women) Vault of Adenike
Oyekunle and Helen Ocheke reached the ranking positions by coming 6th
and 7th positions respectively.
D.
Badminton athletes from Nigeria have qualified for
the Round of 16 in the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s
Doubles, and Mixed Doubles event.
E.
Swimming, the 100 Butterfly (Men) could not qualify
for second round after finishing 5th with a time of 58.93 seconds.
F.
In Karate, Kingsley Onuelu competing
in Ind. Kata (Men) and Amadi Nwabueze in Kumite (Men) 60kg lost in the second
round, while Sandra Afensumen competing in Ind. Kata (female) and Juliet Ikeh in
Kumite (female) 55 kg respectively also lost in the first round. They are out of the event.
