Team Nigeria’s quest for ensuring that the top three
positions did not elude the team could be achievable as the number of medals
garnered at the ongoing All African Games holding in Congo Brazzaville had gone
up to sixty-three (63). This includes
seventeen (17) gold, twenty-five (25) silver and twenty-one (21) bronze medals.
In the events of September 14, Tosin Oke jumped 17.00m
to win gold in the men’s triple jump final with Olamigoke Olumide jumping
16.98m for the silver medal.
The team
also won silver through Amata Doreen in the high jump event(Women), while in the 100m
final, Ogho Oghene Egwero finished in 10.17 seconds winning silver. The para-athletics sport improved the medal
haul when Lovina Onyegbule finished at a time of 12.64 to win gold in the
100m-T11 women event.
